Our technician diagnosed a failed outdoor unit and, based on the age of the system and the refrigerant it utilized, replacement of the indoor coil and refrigerant line set was also required to ensure compatibility with the new equipment and to maintain manufacturer warranty requirements. Before any replacement proposal is finalized, our comfort advisor also performs additional evaluation of the home and system, including confirming equipment sizing and application, which is why a comfort advisor was scheduled to visit. The proposal presented included the complete installed system and all materials necessary for a proper replacement. Like many contractors, we provide a turnkey installed price rather than itemized pricing for individual equipment and labor components. We understand you requested additional cost breakdowns, and we regret that the conversation did not end on a positive note. Our goal is always to answer questions respectfully and professionally, and we apologize if our communication fell short of that standard. Dustin, I am sorry to hear that your experience with us was unpleasant, but I would like you to understand why we came to the conclusion that we did. According to our notes we were told upon scheduling that the tank was low with fuel oil and the customer would like to make sure that the furnace ignites before more fuel was added. Upon arrival, our technician observed several large burn spots on the front of the cabinet, the safety limit is also bypassed, and the ignition transformer was not the correct model for that unit. Pictures were taken and documented; this unit is in very poor condition. There is a lot of liability involved in our line of work because of how dangerous furnaces can be when they are in this type of condition, and we do not recommend continuing to use a unit that we would not have in one of our own homes. I 100% support my technician recommending the replacement of this unit, as it poses a liability to us if we were to work on it, and a safety hazard to anyone who lives in the home. Thank you.
